Become a Friend of the Lake District

Joining as a member is one of the simplest and most powerful ways to create long-term, positive change.

What joining as a member means

You help support our work, from inspiring and mobilising people to work in partnership to protect and enhance these landscapes, to leading by example in demonstrating sustainability and conservation on the land that we look after.

Our important and constant work, fighting for a healthy, resilient and accessible lakes landscape wouldn’t be possible without the generous support of our members, through their campaigning, volunteering, and financial contributions.

Choose the membership that fits you

Every membership helps protect the Cumbrian landscapes you love, and ensures they continue to thrive as a place for adventure, inspiration, wellbeing and tranquillity, now and in the future.

If you’d like to find out more, please contact our fundraising and membership officer, Anne-Marie Rooney: info@fld.org.uk / 01539 720788.

People protesting on Elterwater common

Campaigns

Whether it’s fairer housing, a visitor levy, or stopping an inappropriate development, we build a strong case for change where it’s needed – and make it easy for people to add their voice to ours.

A clear pool and green hills

Planning & policy work

We respond to planning applications and policy consultations, so decisions protect landscapes and communities.

A young man by a hedge

Projects for nature

From conservation work on the land we look after to hedgerow planting, we turn good intentions into real, measurable improvements.

People gathered in a dark wood

Inspiring others

We run events that help people connect with and care for the landscape, and mobilise people to work in partnership with us to protect and enhance these landscapes for generations to come.
